Our Story: Roots Over Riches

Hi, I’m Mohit Motiramani, the founder of Maarvi.

The name "Maarvi" isn't random. It comes from the legendary Sindhi folklore of Umar and Marvi.

In the story, Marvi was a village girl who was captured by a King and offered a life of unimaginable wealth, palaces, and jewels. But she refused it all. She chose her independence, her simple roots, and her love for her own people over a "glorious" life in a golden cage.

That spirit is why we exist.

Maarvi didn’t start in a boardroom. It started in the crowded markets of Ahmedabad—the textile capital of India - while I was shopping for my sister’s wedding.

I spent weeks looking for the perfect outfits. The experience was frustrating. I realized two things:

  1. The Good Stuff Was Overpriced: Anything trendy came with a ridiculous price tag.

  2. The Affordable Stuff Was Generic: Everywhere I looked, I saw the same 4-5 boring designs.

I have spent years working in the manufacturing sector here in Ahmedabad. I knew the fabrics, I knew the costs, and I knew that customers were being overcharged for "luxury" labels that were actually just marketing.

Just like Marvi chose her roots over the King’s palace, we chose authenticity over high markups.

I started Maarvi to bridge the gap. We cut out the middlemen and the "brand tax." We use my manufacturing background to source trendy, high-quality ethnic wear directly from the source. We bring you the latest styles that honor our traditions, without the boutique price tag.

We don’t sell "everything." We sell the outfits I would be proud to see my own sister wear.

True to our roots. True to you.
